Main cottage

The main house is a 1950s cottage that was renovated in 2014. While the mechanicals were updated throughout, the country charm of the original cottage was retained. The 1,400-square-foot cottage is comprised of three main spaces: a master bedroom with a full private bathroom, a kitchen/dining area which opens onto the light-filled living room and a bunkroom with two pairs of built-in bunkbeds. There’s a second bathroom off the living room, and there’s a loft above with great light and views of the lake. Three pairs of French doors open up the west wall of the living room to a large deck, with wraparound seating, overlooking the lake.

Guesthouse

In the early 1980s, a guesthouse was added to the property. Built into the hillside landscape, the guesthouse has a tree-house quality. It has one bedroom, a full bathroom, laundry room and deck.

About the area

The property is only a short 20-minute drive in either direction to two of the most charming towns in the Hudson Valley and the Berkshires. The town of Hudson, to the West, has many antique shops, restaurants, and bars and is situated right along the Hudson River. Great Barrington, to the East, is just over the Massachusetts border, is great for families, with a movie theater, two toy stores and a large candy store. Fine and casual dining is possible in both towns and along the roads between here and there.
