Sanctuary

This poem was sent in by reader Marvin R. Herring in response to “A Cabin State of Mind” by Lars F. in the March 2006 issue.

His advice: Read it at home with a great glass of wine and think about each line. You will be transported to the Rocky Mountains as soon as you do.

Somewhere high in the Rocky Mountains is a special place in time.

A place where you may go to relax, reflect, and renew the spirit.

A place to ponder about things that are … and things that cannot be.

A place to read, a place to have a glass of wine with friends or family.

A place to hear the music of the forest and look up and see the beautiful wild animals.

A place to see the aspen trees turn from green to gold and to hear their wake.

A place to feel the gentle breeze of the mountains and smell the flowers of the meadow.

A place where harsh words are not spoken and stressful conclusions are left behind.

A place where vanity is no more and acts of kindness are important.

A place to thank God for his wonderful creation that He gave to all of us, so long ago.

So now my friend, will you come join me in Sanctuary?
